Imagine if Gentle Monster did hearing aids.

I bet they wouldn’t hide them.

I’ve always felt uncomfortable wearing hearing aids because they just feel like medical devices behind my ears, and I don’t want that to define who I am.

Since their launch in 2011, Gentle Monster have become one of the foremost avant-garde brands in the eyewear space, showing that what is essentially a medical device for vision impairment can be the ultimate tool for self expression.

Only 1 in 5 people who could wear hearing aids actually do, and it’s because they just don’t want to be someone who wears hearing aids. It’s a matter of identity.

Eyewear is an extension of your identity.

Whether you’re flaunting some sick Gentle Monster frames, or a pair of reading glasses you bought for a fiver down the road, by wearing that chosen pair on your face, you’re making a statement about the kind of person you want to be seen as. No wonder people spend time finding the pair that they look best in.

And the same goes for hearing aids. With almost every pair either designed to be hidden or even disguised as earbuds, it doesn’t exactly scream confidence.

Gentle Monster couldn’t be more different. They’re in the business of making bold statements where visibility is an opportunity giving their 1.5 million followers ultra-exclusive collaborations and insane in-store experiences.

So if they did do hearing aids, I bet they wouldn’t hide them.

I started Overtone to take hearing tech from something you ought to wear, to something you want to wear.

Last time I showed you how Burberry would do it. Let me actually know in the comments what brands you would want to wear.
